The State of Package - Jan 29 2025
Where we’ve been…
I can’t believe it’s been almost one year to the day that I gave a status update on Package.
I started writing this dev blog to hold me accountable and keep track of the work that was going into this software. That’s my bad. I’ve always believed in letting my work speak for me, rather than my words. With all that we have planned for Package this year, I’m renewing my commitment to regularly posting on this blog. I can’t in good conscience ask anyone to trust me and follow along on this journey if I keep all my cards close to my chest.
But let me show my work at least one more time. I mean, a lot has happened since year!
For one, we’ve changed how we look!
The core of idea behind Package is simplicity. So I took a long look at restructuring our GUI and workflow.
(1) Package is meant to adapt to the user and their level not the other way around. Instead of making different workflows based on arbitray levels of beginner vs. advanced, we’re taking a one size fits all approach. However, if you have the knowledge and experience to do more, then you are still able to, with no limits to working with more complex show needs
(2) A more modern look! It may just seem like some color are different but for this iteration of Package, I actually did a deep dive into GUI and UX design. I plotted out each page and window before doing any coding to get the iteration you see on the right. I’ll do a deep dive on my design ethos and amateur canva skills in a future blog post.
Package circa 2024
Package circa 2025
And the biggest change of all: We’re launching tomorrow!
Package will have an open beta from 1/30/26 to 7/30/26
If you feel like reading blogs isn’t your thing, then great news! Accompanying this launch, I’ll also be producing short videos called Package Deliveries. I’ll talk more about what went into building Package, how to use it and where the future is leading us.
You can check out the first video here ->
If you’ve stuck around from the beginning in 2024, or are just joining us here, thank you! Your support is truly and immeasurably appreciated. This software would not exist if there wasn’t a community of like-minded individuals out there to help guide us along the way.
Once again, thank you. Here’s to 2026 and a year of Package!
