The State of Package - Feb 16 2026
Bugs, bugs and more bugs!
Hello! Welcome back to another update on the status of Package and how our beta is going.
I can't lie, I was less than excited to write a post like this but if you've downloaded and used the beta, you may have noticed the app has a few bugs. Sorry!
I had done months of testing, hardening and bug fixing leading up to the launch, and figured if anything would pop up, it wouldn't be this egregious. Clearly that's not the case as you can see below.
It's not ideal, and frankly a little embarrassing, but realistically moments like this are important. Of course, I would be over the moon if my product launch had gone smoothly but there's been lots of learning over the past few weeks.
1) I really can't do it all by myself. I may have developed this software but I am not a software developer. There's lots I don't know that goes into deploying an app outside of just coding the thing. And that's ok! I have a goal this year to find a CTO and this affirms that I do need one. I'd rather partner with someone who is as passionate as I am with skills to match my deficiencies, than pretend I can learn everything with google, software development for dummies, and sheer strength of will.
2) No amount of preparation will ever make you 100% ready. I think back to the 6 months of last year where I tested and hardened Package just to still end up with little bugs. I suppose it should be infuriating, putting in so much time and effort to still end up just a bit short, but it's not. As a video game sound designer, this dilemma comes up all the time. I've never worked on a project where I felt I had enough time to get everything out the door perfectly. But when I stop to think about it, I don't think that amount of time actually exists. There will always be more work and more bugs. You just got to get it out the door and be confident in what you did do, and willing to fix or accept what you didn't.
3) Bug fixing is fun! Sounds strange, but it's nice to go from starting to develop a software and transitioning into building on what you have and expanding even further. I definitely thought I would be referring to new feature development, but what bugs we don't catch still helps us grow!
And Introducing our changelog!
As Package grows with more features, and as we harden and fix bugs, we'll update you with all the info here.
All users of the package beta will be emailed new download links of the latest version with the posting of a new changelog entry.
If you find any bugs, please send us an email with any screenshots or repro info at packageaudio@gmail.com
(Needless to say, all the bugs shown above have been fixed!)
